Logan's POV
She didn’t know how trapped I felt, how broken my marriage was. She didn’t know how much I needed Layla to breathe, to feel alive again.
“I’m not playing any games,” I said, my voice low and controlled.
“I care about Layla. I care about her more than you’ll ever understand.”
Maddie let out a cold laugh, shaking her head.
“Do you care about her? Really? Then why are you lying to her? Why are you sneaking around, hiding your wife and son from her? If you really cared about Layla, you’d tell her the truth. You’d stop playing games with her feelings.”
I felt my chest tighten, her words cutting deeper than I wanted to admit. But I couldn’t back down. I couldn’t let her make me feel guilty.
She didn’t understand. She didn’t know how suffocated I felt in my marriage, how trapped I was in a life I never wanted.
