Logan’s POV

"I… I was with them, but then I saw something shiny and I wanted to see it, and then… then I didn’t know where they went!" His tiny hands flailed as he tried to explain.

I exchanged a glance with Dani.

“Lost kid,” Dani muttered under his breath.

I turned back to the boy and gave him a reassuring smile. 

"Don't worry, buddy. How about you come with me? We'll find your mom and dad together."

Little Jason’s face lit up instantly. "Really?"

"Really," I nodded.

Without hesitation, I scooped him up in my arms. He was so small…light as a feather. 

The way he clung to me was almost natural, as if he belonged right there.

As I carried him toward the car, I could feel Dani’s eyes burning into me.

"What?" I finally asked, raising a brow.
