Dani's POV

"It was your wife," he blurted out, his voice shaking.

The room went so silent that I could hear my own heartbeat.

Even Logan still. "What?" His voice was dangerously low.

The doctor swallowed again, looking like he wanted to disappear.

"Your wife, Isabella," he repeated quickly, his words tumbling over each other in fear. 

"She came to me days before you did. She told me that if you came asking for a DNA test, I should make sure the results said the child wasn’t yours. She…she threatened me. She warned me that if I didn’t do it, she would ruin me."

I sucked in a sharp breath.

I had suspected that someone had tampered with the results, but hearing it confirmed? Knowing that it was her?
