Chapter 8. Cinderella’s Sister

It’s not like I hate my sister or I don’t care about her. At the age of six, Ariana was diagnosed with pneumonia. Since that day, my mom has been very sensitive and protective of her health. Despite full professional care, she kept getting cold and then ended up having a very high fever, which could turn out to be very dangerous for her. I’m not a medical professional like my mom. Whenever Ariana got seriously ill, I got a panic attack. Instead of taking care of her and giving her medication, I myself needed someone to calm me down. So, it’s not like I hate taking care of her; it’s just that I’m not worthy of that responsibility. Furthermore, it felt terrible to be a useless burden to the people you love, so I never told my mother about my panic attacks.

“Amy, I don’t wanna be Cinderella’s evil stepsister. I don’t want you to cry because of me. Jenna and I have decided you will go to that party. Don’t worry about me. Jenna will be here with me,” Ariana said as she wiped my tea
