Chapter 12

Her heart was beating fast, thumping loud underneath my heaving chest. She had the feeling he could hear it. He started striding towards her, his footsteps heavy on the floor.

She backed away immediately and bumped against the wall. Her eyes widened as he got in front of her. Towering above her, he gazed down at her small figure, a fierce look on his face.

It didn't surprise her that he was still angry with her. He seemed not to be the kind of man who liked being rejected.

"Why are you here?" his deep voice asked.

"A-Amanda said I should call you s-since lunch is ready," she stuttered, sagging against the wall.

His eyes seemed darker than usual. She looked away because she couldn't take the intensity of his stare. Looking down, her eyes lowered to his heaving chest. His muscles were tense, each bead of sweat slowly rolling down his skin in the most attractive manner.
