My heart raced so fast that I thought it would jump out of my chest.

The man kept getting closer, each step making the space between us smaller.

I was sure he would see me any second now.

My legs were trembling, my hands shaking as I pressed myself against the wall, hoping I could just disappear into the shadows.

I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the moment his gaze would fall on me.
