I stood perfectly still, barely breathing, praying to the Moon Goddess that the man wouldn’t notice me.
The sun was still bright, making it hard for me to see his face clearly, but I could feel the tension in the air.
He was tall, and his presence alone made me nervous. He looked like someone who didn’t belong here, someone dangerous. His clothes were dark, almost blending with the black horse beside him. His boots were worn but sturdy, and his long coat brushed the ground as he moved.
