Rose’s POV
The air around us still felt thick with tension as Celine and I stood there, catching our breath.
The silence of the village was now worse than before. It was as if the entire place had been frozen in time, holding its breath, waiting.
I looked at Celine, hoping she would say something, but her eyes were fixed on the ground, lost in thought.
Before I could ask again about the man, something shifted. Slowly, at first, I noticed movement.
One by one, the villagers began to emerge from their hiding places. It was almost like watching the village come back to life after a storm had passed.
From the small wooden houses scattered around the village, doors creaked open, and people stepped out cautiously.
Some peeked their heads out first, scanning the area to make sure the danger had truly passed.
Their faces were pale, eyes wide with fear.
