Chapter 4
Rose’s POV
I snapped at the sound of a door opening and banging close and turned around, squinting my eyes to the direction of the sound to see who had walked in. But the room was impenetrably dark.
“You’ve had enough comfort for a day,” a deep voice spoke.
My face went into a deep grown as I realized who it was.
Kanen.
“Get away from me!” I yelled as I quickly jumped off the floor and backed into the corner.
I could see the shape of his figure in the dark just before the room went lit, and I could see my surroundings. I was in a wide room and Kanen was just a few steps away from me. I gasped in fear and tried to move back but my back hit the wall.
“What are you so scared of?” Again goes his deep voice as he stopped right in front of me, his breath fanning my face.
“Let me out of here,” I said. “I will never allow you to touch me.”
His eyes narrowed at me before he lifted a hand and turned me around. He did that so effortlessly and fast, I didn’t even have time to protest. He pins me against the wall, his wide body pressed up against mine.
“You should be thankful if I ever laid a hand on you,” he said slowly into my ears. I felt the hair at the back of my neck stand, his body electrified mine.
I struggled to break free. “I will never let you touch me!” I insisted.
Suddenly, he’s roughly pulling at my dress, tearing it down the shoulder to my back.
I tried to fight him off but to no avail. He had completely divided my cloth from the back and if I wasn’t holding it together from the front, I’d be standing naked right in front of me.
He leans closer, his body well pressed against me and whispered into my ear. “I would touch you whenever I wanted. You are nothing but a slave to me now.”
That said he slowly retreated out of the room, leaving me alone with the sound of my sobs echoing in the distance. I slid to the floor, my hands holding on protectively to my torn dress. I would not allow this to be my fate. I refuse to remain here.
Wiping out my tears, I rose up and tried to find a window. None.
Just then, the doors opened and a woman walked in carrying some things on her hands.
“I’ve been asked to give you a bath before dinner,” she says and I blinked.
I have got to get out of here. By the time she led me to another room with a bathroom, a window was wide open below me.

Alpha Kanen’s POV
I stepped out of the room, wishing I wasn’t so angry and scaring the girl. I hated having her here, I even wondered what made me agree to take her from her father. I guess at that moment, looking at her on the ground, I just couldn’t bring myself to kill her. So perhaps bringing her was still the best plan. She can remain in that room for all I care.
At the end of the hall stood my beta, Malone was waiting.
“Ask some maids to get her cleaned up,” I told him as I passed him and he followed. “She stinks.”
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain shoot through my head and I stopped walking. I grabbed hold of my head and felt the ground beneath me shaking.
“Kanen,” I heard Malone’s fading voice behind me, “are you alright?”
Fuck.
I didn’t know what happened next safe for the darkness that took over me. The next thing I knew, I was opening my eyes to a room filled with distant noises. Everywhere was foggy but I managed to lift my head up.
I saw Malone standing at the far side of the room talking to my doctor, Derek. Malone quickly hurries over to me as soon as he sees me waking up.
“Are you alright, Alpha?” Malone asks, concern in his eyes as they watched me.
“This isn’t getting any better Alpha Kanen,” Derek said to me. “I highly recommend we take the second solution…”
“We will not subject our Alpha to such unbearable cruelty,” Malone replied with gritted teeth.
I couldn’t say anything. I just watched the sky and closed my eyes, hoping to find peace for once.
I had a disease that nobody had ever heard of. It was a disease I’ve had since I was a child, a disease that had made me so vulnerable among every other kid. A disease that made me lose consciousness without warning. And most of the time made me forget who I was. This was my biggest weakness which I have been able to keep away from my people my entire life.
After my late parents, Malone and my personal doctor were the only people who knew I had this disease. And Malone has protected me in times of my weaknesses so much.
Derek thinks there’s no hope of finding a cure, except something that I must do.
After resting for a few minutes I remembered the girl I’d brought with me needed to be fed. I leaped off my bed, threw on a shirt and hurried out of the room.
I took the stone stairs and tried maneuvering around the small garden just below, which led to the room I’d asked Malone to have her taken to. But before I could completely step off the stone steps, something flashy caught my eyes from the tall house where I’d asked her to be dressed and kept.
There she was, on that little window, throwing down her tiny little legs, her bright cream colored plain dress rolled up high to reveal the smooth skin beneath.
Was she trying to escape?
Whatever excitement had ignited inside me after having a glimpse of her thighs has been blemished with anger as the thought of her trying to run away hit me hard.
I watched as she leaped down onto the garden and looked around before hurriedly running through them.
I mentally cursed and took the opposite path. I knew exactly where she was going to burst out and is going to wish she never tried to run.
Once I reached the end of the large garden, I waited behind a tree. I saw her make her way towards my direction.
I watched her face, how she looked around. Not because she was scared, but because she was determined to leave. She wasn’t going to settle. She was going to try and fight and…win.
Once she neared the tree and looked back, I stepped out and waited. Somehow, all that anger I felt seeing her jump out the window had suddenly disappeared.
Once she looked back around, she gasped hard at the sight of me, stumbling backwards in surprise.
“Where did you think you were going?” I asked her.
“Get away from me!” There she goes again.
“You think all this is a joke right? Bringing you here, not killing your father and burning down your pack because I agreed to take you with me?”
“I never asked you to take me!”
I saw the fire in her eyes. The pain. There was so much I didn’t know about this woman.
Taking a step closer, I decided to change the subject. “I am going to forgive you this time because you’re a first offender and pretend I didn’t just catch you trying to escape and ask you a very important question. Weren’t you supposed to be getting ready for our first night together?”
“You are not touching me!” she screamed in my face. Isn’t she scared of me like the rest of the people? “I would rather die than let you touch me!”
My lips cornered into an amused smirk. I moved forward, closing the space between us and still, she stood her ground, her eyes refusing to leave mine. Did I not intimidate her enough?
Leaning over to her ear, I whispered, “Trust me the last thing I want to do is touch you. At least, the least I could do to honor whatever remains of your pride and reputation is to make you my Luna first.”
That said, I brushed past her and mind linked my men to come take her back into the house.
This was just the beginning of her suffering.
