Rose’s POV

We were close to the pack lands, but something didn’t feel right.

The air was heavy, and a cool silence surrounded us. Joe, Elise, and I had been traveling all day, but now, as we approached the entrance, I felt a strange tension.

I glanced at Joe. His face was serious, his jaw clenched. Elise was beside him, her eyes scanning the trees around us as if expecting danger to jump out at any moment.

“Do you feel that?” I asked, my voice low, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling in my chest.

“Yeah,” Joe nodded. “Something’s off. It’s too quiet.”

Elise frowned, her hand resting on the dagger strapped to her waist. “We should be careful. I don’t like this.” She’s always like this.
