Alpha Kanen’s POV

Slowly, I opened my eyes, feeling like I just narrowly escaped something. I thought maybe I had already passed away, gone to be with my ancestors. It was a close call.

My surroundings were a bit blurry, and I saw memories of death flashing before my eyes. Amidst the confusion, there were wails and noises around me.

Then, a name cut through the haze—Rose. My mate. It jolted me back to where I was lying. Rose was in sudden labor, and my condition might have caused it. She wasn’t due yet.
