Chapter 258. Rekindled

My excitement level skyrocketed to an all-time high as the day of Melanie’s birthday celebration arrived. A big smile crept onto my lips when I finished wrapping her birthday gift, and placed it on my desk. It was a pair of diamond earrings that were sitting inside of a small jewelry box.

She had a lifelong fascination with diamonds, and she had mentioned to me in the past that she had a recurring dream in which her father gave her a pair of diamond earrings. However, this could never happen in real life because her father had passed away from cancer three years earlier, so I was pleased that I was the one who could grant her wish.

Since I went shopping for jewelry with my mom almost a year ago, I've had this present with me ever since, but I didn't know how to give it to Melanie at that time.

I slipped a birthday card into a small envelope and attached it to the gift. Inside the card, it reads:

Dear Melanie,

Have a wonderful birthday!
