Chapter 32. Waiting for Results

Lex’s POV

“I’m telling you,” Lotus growled. “Something feels off about that girl. There is no way she can be our mate. I’m certain I didn’t mark her.”

I paced my office, waiting for Zack and Lilly to finish at the infirmary. The tension in the room was palpable as I tried to process Lotus’s words.

Despite the doubts creeping into my mind, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something deeper at play—something that required further investigation before drawing any conclusions.

Lotus and I were discussing Sade, our so-called mate, whom neither of us believed was truly ours. The more I thought about it, the more questions arose. What if Sade was merely a distraction, a pawn in a larger game we were just beginning to understand?

“I know. I know,” I replied, frustrated. “I feel it too, but how the hell was she wearing our mate mark? How did she manage to smell like HER, and how is she creating the sparks…?”
