It took me hours to get to New York, and my men did all they could to protect me from the public. News of my death was everywhere, but I could only worry about my family.
Family—what a strange word it was. I was now a family man, and I had a responsibility to my wife and my children. I missed her. I missed holding her and looking after her.
Soon, I was escorted to the safe house, where I found Ava already there with Ariana’s father. I could tell the man didn’t like me, and I paid him no mind as I approached Ava.
“Tell me the situation on the ground,” I demanded, and she sighed.
“Lucas has all his men looking for you high and low. The good news is they aren’t aware you are in New York, but he is searching here too. Security has tightened, and it will be hard to get to them,” she said, out of breath. I looked at her.
