It's beautiful here, and I can’t help glancing at him every few steps and having to tell myself that this is real and I’m not dreaming. Dane actually brought me somewhere perfect and is here, alone, being sweet and not ruining my life and making me hate him. I never knew he had it in him to be this way.
“Over there…see that house?” He points into a cliff face far off in the distance, which is already cut off from where we are by the sea. A little stilted beach house snuggly fitted into the rocks with a whole wall of glass paneling aimed this way. I assume that they, too, have a beach in low tide.
“Hmm?” I answer, unsure of what he’s showing me for.
“That’s Dex’s parent’s retirement villa…They built it so they can retire by the sea but aren’t yet in their fifties. So until then Dex uses it sometimes for weekends and beach parties. I'll bring you if you want to go next time he has one.”
I falter at the thought of getting taken to some frat boy party where people
