Calista’s POV
His sharp voice seemed to aim with precision to strike at any semblance of innocence or naivety. There was no hint of a smile, no softening of his features that might suggest he was joking.
The professor finally looked up, sensing the charged atmosphere. She cleared her throat, breaking the momentary deadlock. But Draven didn’t flinch; his attention remained fixed on me, waiting for my next move with an intensity that made it clear this was far from over.
I took a deep breath. “Your roommate?” I jokingly asked, thinking he has humor but instead, it seemed to piss him off, even harder.
