Chapter 99. No One’s Judging You
Calista’s POV
We stayed at the restaurant long after our plates had been cleared, talking about everything and nothing. The conversation flowed easily like it used to before everything became so complicated. We reminisced about old times, about the silly things we used to do when we were younger, and for a little while, it felt like we were those girls again—carefree, inseparable, and unburdened. It feels good not to think about hiding a thing from her.
“I guess we should go,” I said reluctantly, pushing my chair back and standing up. “It’s getting late.”
“Yeah,” Lysandra agreed, though she didn’t sound any more eager to leave than I was. “But this was good, Calista. I’m glad we did this.”
“Me too,” I said sincerely, slipping my purse over my shoulder. “We needed this.”
We walked out of the restaurant together. Lysandra slipped her arm through mine as we made our way down the quiet street.
