Chapter 48
Adrienne can't deny the unease she feels whenever she's with Ethan. It all started with his simple confession of love, a confession that surprises her because she was no longer single, technically. Avoiding Ethan has become challenging since they've grown closer; he feels like a sibling to her now. Despite this, she has been keeping her distance for a week, trying not to let her feelings complicate things.
Everything Adrienne does seems to involve Ethan, and that's exactly what she's trying to avoid. She doesn't want to fall for him on the rebound or use him as a temporary distraction. Having experienced hope followed by disappointment before, she doesn't want to give him false hope either. She knows how it feels to be let down after putting her trust in someone, like what happened with Pedro, who didn't fight for her or listen to her in the end.
Adrienne is currently in her office, diligently working on budget lists and checking her stocks while her son, Kent, sleeps peacefull
