Chapter 56

Adrienne ran while she was deafened by the pain she was feeling. She chose to run up the stairs and disappear from Pedro's sight. She never imagined this love would be so painful. She thought she had found a decent man for her love story with a happy ending, but she ended up broken and lifeless walking on the street. She wondered how she would put herself back together.

She didn't care if she was mistaken for a crazy person crying. She just wanted to shed the pain she was feeling. She couldn't feel hunger anymore; she could hardly feel anything. So she decided to go back to the mansion. She hailed a taxi and luckily had money with her.

When she arrived home, she immediately went to her room. Pedro wasn't home yet, so she took this opportunity to call Cathy.

"Oh, dear? Did something happen? Are you crying?" Cathy asked her, probably hearing her sobbing.

"Please come pick me up here; later we can talk," Adrienne said in a choked voice on the other line.
