The Halloween party as it appeared had given Alexis all the license she needed to show what a monster she truly was and yet claim it as a real joke.

“Now, if you don’t mind, I have a lawyer to meet and other business associates I would like to meet, your face is boring me.” She bumped her shoulders into mine and spilled her wine on me deliberately.
