My heart was beating so fast, and I didn’t know how to react to her death glare.

“Welcome, ma,” escaped my lips, she walked past me without a word. What could be going on in her mind? I pondered. Does she know about my secret? To ease off the tension, I followed behind her till we got to her room with the intention of knowing why she acted coldly to me. This is unlike her. My mother’s intimidating figure that always makes me nervous, but this one is different. There was something about her look that didn’t just make me nervous but scared too.
