When I finally arrived at the packhouse, Owen, my Beta, was already waiting for me at the gates. He looked a bit worried as he glanced at my face.

“Welcome back, Alpha,* He greeted me with a bow. “You were gone longer than expected,” he said.

I moved ahead without looking at him. “The journey was a tedious one and the priestess wasn’t easy to bargain with.”

I could feel Owen’s footsteps as he followed me closely behind. “Did you succeed, Alpha?”

I opened my palm, revealing the tiny vial filled with silver liquid.

Owen frowned. “That’s… smaller than I expected.”

“It’s enough for one wolf.”

His expression darkened. “Then who’s taking it?”

I didn’t hesitate. “I am.”

Owen inhaled sharply. Alpha—”

“I’m not arguing about this,” I cut him off, pushing past him. “Gather the war council. We need to discuss our next move.”

“Yes Alpha,” he answered. Then suddenly, his voic
