“Every second we waste planning is another second my family is in danger.”
“And every second we waste charging in without a plan is another second that could get your family killed,” the officer countered. “Sir, I understand you’re worried. But you need to let us do our job.”
“How long?” I demanded. “How long to get SWAT up there? To coordinate all of this?”
The officers exchanged glances. “Minimum two hours,” one admitted. “The roads up there are treacherous even in good weather, and with this snow starting to fall—”
“Two hours,” I repeated, and the number felt like a death sentence. “You want me to wait two hours while Samuel has my mate and my son?”
