Lake POV
“He was leaving,” I said again, my voice rising to a shrill pitch I didn’t recognize. “Ramon was getting on a plane to leave the country and nobody told me? And now Ollie is out there somewhere trying to find him and—”
My chest tightened. I couldn’t breathe. The room started spinning.
“Lake, look at me,” Rhodes said, gripping my shoulders. “Breathe. In through your nose, out through your mouth. Come on.”
But I couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. My baby was missing. My mate was leaving the country. Everything was falling apart and I couldn’t breathe—
“Lake!” Rhodes shook me. “Stay with me. We’re going to find Ollie. But I need you to focus. Can you do that?”
