Chapter 87
Ramon POV
A soft knock at the door pulled me from my spiraling thoughts. I carefully extracted myself from the bed, trying not to disturb Lake or Ollie, and opened the door to find Rhodes standing there. He looked haggard, exhausted, like he’d aged a decade in the past twelve hours.
“Can’t sleep either?” I asked quietly.
“Troy’s finally settled down,” Rhodes said.
“Took forever to get him to stop crying and apologizing. I just... I need to not be alone with my thoughts right now. And the family wants to talk. Everyone’s gathering downstairs.”
“Now? It’s after midnight.”
“No one can sleep,” Rhodes said with a bitter laugh. “We’re all too wound up from today. Troy insisted on coming too, even though I told him he needs rest. He said he deserves to be part of whatever conversation happens.”
