Chapter 14. Hard Truths

Paris POV

I wiped down the counter at the Barn early the next morning. He called me his kitten, what was that? It made me feel claimed like I had his mark on me. I slept in his room last night while he slept in a guest room. I didn’t get much sleep I couldn’t stop replaying the fight and what Marcel told me.

If I ran again I might run into Caleb or Rafael. Where would I find a smaller town than Elvira Falls? Marcel said I would be safe here. I believed him because I saw him defend me. Would I really give that up?

“Earth to Paris? Geez girl, are you alright?”

I snapped my head up. “Selma? When did you get in?”

She frowned. “A minute ago! I just told you about my art class.”

I cringed. “Sorry, my head’s in the clouds.”

Selma looked like a normal girl. She went to college, parties and had boy troubles just like any normal girl but she could turn into an animal that could tear someone apart.

“What’s going on? Is it Noah?”
