Chapter 17. Mascaraed Fiasco
Tess got on stage wearing an army green gown with a dramatically long train. It had long lace sleeves which showed a considerable amount of cleavage. My red dress belonged to my mother. One of the few things she left behind plus her necklace resting on my chest.
Mindy, Selma and I went around handing Champaign to the guests for the opening toast.
I scanned the crowd for others without a glass in their hands when I spotted him. A smile tugged at my lips. He wore a black fitted suit with a white shirt under the black jacket and a black tie resting on his chest. His pants hugged his legs to perfection.
His Champaign glass was empty. A perfect excuse to speak to him.
“Champaign?” I asked.
He smiled. “You look gorgeous.”
Heat rushed to my cheeks.
“How did you know red’s my favourite colour?”
“It is?” I asked.
He smirked. “Yeah.”
