Chapter 41. The Other Woman's Scent
“Ugh, why did I stop wearing wear pins? I would have found a way to pick this lock.”
I yanked on the rusted and pointy cuff around my wrist.
“I knew Ana was shady but even this is too much for a jealous ex-girlfriend,” I groaned.
I slammed against the damp wall in defeat. “I’m going to die here,” I groaned.
I’d been locked up for hours. The air was thick, the room smelled and it was a matter of hours before the rats wriggled out of the holes in the walls. I shivered at the thought of rodents. My decaying house in the woods might have been old and abandoned but rats were a nonstarter.
“Don’t be so dramatic,” Ana scowled. “I told you someone else wants you.”
I frowned. “Then you’ll magically step into Marcel’s life.”
She beamed. “That does sound nice. Marcel wouldn’t love me but he’s a man of obligation and I’m fine with that really. I’ll get into all the best clubs, the high life will be mine and my status will be
