Chapter 40. Chained
Paris POV
I struggled to see. I’d been hit over the head. I struggled to clear the brain fog. It was like all of me refused to function all at once.Everything happened so fast. The last thing I remembered was I was talking to Ana. My attempt to stand got me a pinch on my wrist. Cold metal wrapped around my wrist while the other one lay on the damp floor.
“What?” I gasped.
A lump formed in my throat. I wanted to scream but my body went stiff and cold.
The room was dim with the only source of light coming in from the small window above me. The floor was damp which made the room stuffy and liquid on the floor which I hoped was water seeped into my ugly costume.
“Oh, you’re awake. I was afraid I’d have to stay here all night.”
“Ana?” I shouted and yanked on the restraints.
“Save your air. No one can hear you from down here.” She appeared in front of me.
