Ruby’s POV

“Your brother happened,” he replied with a grimace.

“Tate?”

“How many brothers do you have?” Meyer scoffed, and I hissed at him, sending him retreating. Ria’s giggle echoed in my mind.

“Why did Tate hit you?” I turned my attention back to Vincent.

“He’s a jerk.”

“My brother is not a jerk. You are!” I defended him.

“Beth and I had a misunderstanding, and he took it the wrong way and attacked me,” he explained. It couldn’t have just been a misunderstanding if Tate had attacked him. I attempted to stand up, but Meyer grabbed my wrist and then quickly released it.

“You know, I always thought you were pretty. Even before you left, I wanted to ask you out,” he said.

“Oh?”

“It’s a shame the alpha twins denied your bond. You must be embarrassed about that, but it’s their loss and my gain,” he said cockily.

“Your gain?”

“Yes, because I plan to ask you out. Don’t worry; I don’t think you’re a two-timing
