Ruby’s POV

I turned my attention back to Boris. He no longer looked confident, and his eyes were wide with horror. He was backing away slowly, and I smirked. I raised my hand towards him, and his lips trembled.

“What did you say about my power being unable to touch you? No, don’t answer. Let’s try,” I mocked, and I threw flames at him. He managed to dodge, but I stalked towards him, launching fire after fire. Two rogues jumped to his defense, but I burned them and sent one flying toward Hayes, who pounced and bit his neck. More attackers came after us, but Hayes fought them off valiantly. I sent two more flames toward Boris. He was too slow to dodge, and they hit his stomach and face.

“Why are you doing this? I’m just trying to help you! I want you to grow your powers and become the most powerful!” he screamed through immense pain.
