Chapter 91. Losing Him for Real

I felt light-headed and my legs wobbled under me. Then, I stumbled and only realised what was going on when I fell on my knees. My heart was pounding as if I’d run a race across the city and my hands were trembling. Looking around, I knew that something was terribly wrong—so terribly wrong.

Two things gave it away: first, the last thing I remembered was shutting my eyes to sleep after talking to Magnus earlier in the night. After that, there was no recollection of anything that had happened and from all indications, I was no longer on my sleeping mat but a few yards away from it. How I got there was beyond me.

Second, everyone there was alert as if they expected that I’d suddenly lash out and attack them. When I glanced at Magnus’s face, I saw more than alertness. I saw terror and I felt it too through our bond. He was scared of me.
