Chapter 157
It lacked personal items, with only a basin of cold water, an improvised bed on the floor, and two folded blankets. Leon entered and looked somewhat embarrassed.
"The bed isn't very soft, but it’ll be warmer here than outside," he told her.
She looked at him. The tent didn’t have enough light, just two candles in a secluded corner, and the moonlight inside was faint. Still, it was possible to see his face.
His eyes were so bright, she thought.
They looked like stars.
"Have you eaten anything?"
She nodded.
He rubbed his hands, seeming nervous, and then said, "I'll be right outside, so don't worry. I’m a light sleeper if you need me."
He handed her the blanket and was about to leave the tent when she realized what was happening.
She walked over to him and held his hand.
