Elise walked down the hallway, guided by her cane. She had heard from the servants that Thomas was locked in his room, completely isolated. One of the wolves from his pack was dead, they said.

She could imagine his pain, and she couldn't ignore how he had barged into her room when he heard her scream. So, she continued walking until she was sure she was in front of his door.

She touched the doorknob, then turned it.

She called out to him several times, but received no answer.
