However, as I walked down the hall without much hope of meeting him I saw him standing on a wall, leaning back looking at his hands, so absorbed that he didn't notice my presence until I called out to him.

He crossed his pale arms and sighed, then looked through me into the corridor, his gaze apprehensive, I had surprised him.
— I am waiting for my servant, he is getting the horses ready for me to leave. — he replied uneasily.
I moved closer to him, reducing the distance between us.
— Were you going to leave without saying goodbye? Don't you think that's very rude?
He smiled. A forced smile.
— Fortunately you spare me this embarrassment by being here in front of me, I must say goodbye and my lady can convey my sincerest apologies for leaving so soon. — he said.
