Chapter 32. Hope

Eve's POV

I sat by Berton's bed, worded as hell. Nothing seemed to be working now and it made me feel like I was going crazy. The fact that his condition wasn't just improving and seemed to be deteriorating made me feel utterly helpless because there was nothing I could do now. The doctor himself had confirmed that it would only keep getting worse and only came occasionally to check how he was doing, and after that he would drop a bombshell about how he was doing. I didn't want to hear him say that but I knew he wasn't lying to me. 

Berton wasn't recovering at all, and something had to be done. We were on the verge of exhausting all out options and I prayed that we would get one of the options right before this ended. When the doctor arrived, he went straight and quickly checked his vital signs. After that he shook his head disapprovingly as if about to drop another bombshell. 

"Doctor, how is he?" I asked, looking up at him
