Chapter 31. Something Feels Odd

Eve's POV

Emily? Who was Emily? And why was he calling her name? This was the first time I was hearing the name Emily, and why was he calling her name in his vulnerable moment?

What was her connection to him? Something just felt odd about this, especially with the fact that he was calling this name at this point. Was she from work? But why would he suddenly call an employee's name? Or was she the reason he was not healing or getting any better?

"Berton, can you hear me? Please let me in. I need to ensure that you're okay. I know how much pain you are in, please allow me to come in." I uttered as I continued to plead with him to let me in, so I could see his symptoms. Although the door was open, I could not get access into the room as his back was pressed against the door to stop me from entering.

The more I continued to call out to him, the more the tears stung my eyes because even if he let me inside, I wouldn't be able to stop
