Chapter 27. Bernard Delaware
GERARD’S POV
"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" It appalled me. I couldn't believe that this was a hunter's gathering.
Cages hung from the roof occupied by women dancing with snakes clad around their necks, bellies and arms.
Neon lights glimmered off the walls as a disco ball spun in the ceiling. There was a DJ at the turntable playing upbeat songs. He had on a nice suit with eyeliners and black lipstick.
The guests were dancing and having a good time. It was like I was at an adult prom.
"Isn't it always this festive?" Ingrid questioned.
"No, at least not the ones that I've been to before."
I stood there, watching servers pour champagne into stacked glasses.
A few onlookers watched in awe as the chilled beverage drizzled into the glass at the top of the tower until it overflowed, allowing the liquor to trickle down and fill the glasses sitting below.
