Chapter 29. Not My Mate

 Still Mercedes' POV 

 Most certainly, the Alpha's words did surprise me. 

I was not prepared for this statement. I stare at him dumbfounded.

 “Alpha, your Luna?” I asked to make sure I heard the exact same words from his mouth. "But wouldn't you wait until next year to find her?" I remind him. He tries to take my hand, but I pull back.

 “I meant that I would wait for you,” he explains. “It’s not sure if Midnight Moon's Alpha is your destined mate. It may be me. The way my wolf is pleased with you, I believe you are my mate”, he states confidently. Only now do I panic. Having Alpha Glary as a mate is the worst thing that could happen to me. I shake my head in shock. 

 "No! That's not possible," I stammer. “Zane is my mate, I'm very sure of that. We belong to each other, I'm his". I jump up now and take a few steps back. “Whatever happens, I'll stay with Zane. If you turn out to be my mate, prepare fo
