Chapter 42. Not His Mistress

 Beta Jace's POV

 “Kenry, didn't you think the behavior of that she-wolf and Alpha was strange when we were in human town?” Elise, Alpha Zane's sister, asks the Gamma annoyed. “He was so rude to us while we had been helping his pack member. I didn't get the impression that they were fated mates, maybe she's just his mistress." 

 Elise clearly feels shortchanged by what happened last week in human town when she came from a business trip with our Gamma. This is the second time I heard her mentioning this case. I have shown no interest in it before, my head is with my mate and besides that, I have a lot of work at hand now that Zane has extended his stays in Silver Moon. Every year he commemorates grandly the day he first met his little Luna. But the most striking thing is that Mercedes has been more affectionate in recent weeks. She keeps her mate with her longer than before when she can't be in our pack. The two are really inseparable.
