“I’m studying, I have an exam tomorrow and ... “The words had not finished leaving her lips when, without warning, David cornered her against the wall to the side.
“I thought we talked about that already, Em, “He murmured, his tone calm, but she knew from the contracted muscle in his jaw that it wasn’t so.
She hated it when he called her that; whatever diminutive there might be of her name was not to her liking at all.
“I can’t quit my studies; I have so little left.” She said, tangling saliva; I could see the anger swimming in her dark eyes.
He nodded silently without taking his eyes off her until he looked down her neck and the rest of her body; he was wearing an old, comfortable, wide gray shirt as a nightgown that night; she could see the disgust in his gaze even before he turned away from her again.
