“I must deal with the police; I’ll tell them you’re on vacation with your secretary, a most convincing story when I erase their memories.” He smiled, and she believed the hint of a little edge under his lips.
He would tell them that? An affair with his boss? If she wasn’t petrified in her place, her expression would surely show the mortification her words had caused.
The door closed with a dull thud, she thought she heard a mechanism go off after that and after a second the sensation of being paralyzed disappeared, with a frown she took a step towards the door.
What just happened? That and more doubts were lodged in his head.
“It’s a skill we have,” Brian cleared his throat. “Forgive my brother; in his mind, it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission... Although he almost never apologizes for the truth.”
