I told him he was dreaming if he thought he and I would have a child, but the bastard smiled arrogantly and took the words right out of my mouth with one of his finger-curling kisses.

I took a glass of champagne, hoping to get the strength to face Adam and discover our next step in this “relationship,” and as the liquid burned in my throat, a conversation reached my ears.
