Chapter 5

Charlotte’s POV

I stopped running at some point, but I couldn’t remember when. I didn’t know where I was. I followed the small path that led into the woods from Corie’s house until it faded out, and now I was just clearing bushes and tree branches as much as I could and walking into them. 

I had been in the woods for days now. Luckily, I had some food in my sack bag before running away. And I saw some fruits in the woods, which was odd. I was taught there was no life in the woods, just death, especially for a lone wolf like me.

I was stumbling now, barely moving yet pushing myself. I looked up with blurry eyes toward the sun; it was going down. I was fortunate enough not to encounter any rogues throughout the journey yet. 

Every day, I thought about Faith. Was she alive? Had her mother come in time to stop Corie? Was Nadia okay? Did Corie...did Corie spare them?

I was in the room with Corie long enough to know he wasn’t thinking straight. He had had too
