Chapter 6
Charlotte’s POV
I woke up. I had crumbled to the ground without knowing and fallen asleep. I couldn’t tell how long I had been down for. That didn’t matter. It was dark. I knew I should stop moving and lay there for the night, or at least until I was dead.
Still, I got up. I spotted my sack bag under the moonlight just a few inches away from me and picked it up. Then I started walking again. I was too weak. Sooner or later, I would lose consciousness again and fall to the ground. I reached a fallen tree trunk and felt with my hands to see how large it was. It wasn’t too large, so I could climb over it and continue my journey to nowhere.
I threw my leg on the side and then the other and jumped down. As I landed, my left foot came in contact with something sharp on the wet mud. I opened my mouth to scream in pain, but I caught myself in time. I wanted to die, but I didn’t want to die by being eaten by a wild beast or being tortured by rogues.
