I felt the hatred spread through the group and remained motionless, trying not to cause further problems as I watched Marcus’ group being forced to surrender when a group of humans with bandanas appeared, with Randall in front of them.
Randall didn’t seem to have been captured, but he also didn’t seem comfortable in the presence of those humans. We weren’t that far from the hospital—actually, I wasn’t totally wrong; we should be two blocks from the building. However, this seemed to have been planned in some way. Randall had been caught in an ambush, and our group had been drawn close enough to see him, but far enough so that part of us could escape.
I considered whether they’d blame me for putting their alpha in danger, considering how much I insisted we go to the city and how much I asked the whole pack to accompany us.
