Chapter 21

Josephine’s POV

I gasped in surprise when I turned around and saw my sister, Rayne, standing just a few meters away from me, mouth agape. She looked surprised to see me too. I couldn’t imagine why.

Rayne had seen the change in me, and she’d responded positively to it. As the weeks rolled by, I watched her become more of herself every day. I was happy to see that she was finally moving past the bad breakup she had. Nothing pleased me more.

I imagined that Rayne would be happy to see that I was entertaining male company, which was something she’d always teased me about taking seriously a few months back, but she looked negatively surprised tonight. I was about to find out why.

“Rayne!” I called out loud, grinning from ear to ear. “What are you doing here?”

Rayne was pointing at the restaurant building before us. She looked dazed.

“I…I came here to take some shots of the landscape. It’s for the photography competition I told you about.”

“Oh,” I
