Today was D-Day—the final hearing that would determine Andre's fate, and possibly Elizabeth's. The courtroom brimmed with tension as people filed into their seats. Outside, lights flashed and cameras clicked while reporters shouted questions. Inside, the air was thick with a nervous energy that refused to settle.
Andre sat calm and composed, jaw clenched, eyes fixed ahead, revealing nothing. Behind him, Stanley gave a firm, quiet nod of reassurance—the only thing Andre needed to hold steady.
Vanessa wasn’t in the courtroom. At Stanley's insistence, she had stayed away. Thirty-two weeks pregnant and prone to dangerous spikes in blood pressure over the smallest stress, she didn’t need to witness this.
Elizabeth entered moments later with her team, dressed in a navy-blue corporate dress, heels clicking against the tile, walking as if she owned the very air. Her entrance was impossible to ignore.
