I was jolted out of my thoughts when he spoke again. “I’m not going to be mad, angel. I promise,” he said softly and I took a deep breath before speaking.
“Jackson and I were not a thing, it was all a show,” I lied. That wasn’t what I was going to say. I couldn’t bring myself to talk, I wasn’t ready to face that part of my life now. He wasn’t in my life anymore and I already found a safe space in Alex, I saw zero need for me to bring it up.
“That’s all?” He asked and I nodded. “You made me worried there for a second. It’s not a secret, I thought you were going to drop a bomb on me,” he chuckled and I chuckled nervously too.
