Chapter 33
Kelvin’s POV
My heart tightened as she came down the stairs. She looked tired, and there was a rosy dew to her skin that made her look even more beautiful. I was going to miss Grace Hampton, and so would the kids.
We were standing at the foot of the stairs, the kids groggy from sleep, but I wanted us to give her a proper farewell. The pretty bouquet of red roses stood out, and I longed to see the smile on her face when I handed over the flowers to her.
“What’s going on?” she asked as she stopped before us.
“We wanted to give you a parting gift. The kids and I are indebted to you.”
I watched her eyes water, and she dabbed them quickly. I had noticed she cried a lot these days, but I assumed it was just emotions.
She bent and gathered the sleep-befuddled children in her arms. “Thank you guys so much. I’m going to miss you.”
